Apple’s first foldable iPhone targets a late 2026 release with a 7.8-inch main screen and $1999 price tag, according to a JPMorgan investor report. The device could generate $65 billion in sales by 2028.

Bank analysts describe a "book-style" foldable design – opening to a 7.8-inch display with a 5.5-inch outer screen. Early shipments may reach "tens of millions" in 2027. growing to 450 million units by 2028. The $1999 price sits below earlier industry estimates of $2000-$2500.
Key technical upgrades aim to stand out:
◎ Laser-drilled metal plates to eliminate screen creases
◎ Ultra-thin titanium frame for durability
◎ Thinner overall body than current foldables
Production costs hit $759 per unit – significantly higher than current flagship iPhones – justifying the premium pricing. JPMorgan notes Apple’s ecosystem integration could help disrupt the foldable market despite the cost.
Separately, next year’s iPhone 17 Pro may introduce physical camera controls and an 8x zoom lens, signaling Apple’s focus on photography as a premium differentiator ahead of the foldable launch.
The foldable iPhone is expected to enter production in Q3 2026.
