Apple released iOS 18.6 and iPadOS 18.6 today, solving a headache for many users: Memories videos created in the Photos app can finally be shared again.

For weeks, people trying to share personalized video memories hit a dead end. The update squashes that bug, restoring the popular sharing feature. Apple’s sixth major update this year also brings significant security upgrades, patching over 20 vulnerabilities.
One critical fix stops VoiceOver – Apple’s screen reader – from accidentally speaking device passcodes aloud. Another prevents malicious audio files from causing system crashes or memory errors. Eight WebKit flaws were addressed to protect against data leaks and Safari instability.
European users get new freedoms starting today. The update enables iPhone and iPad owners in the EU to install apps directly from developer websites or third-party app stores – a major shift under regional regulations.
Before updating, experts recommend backing up devices via iCloud or computer. Expect slower downloads as millions hit Apple’s servers simultaneously. For faster installation, users can download the update file (IPSW) via computer and connect their devices using USB-C or Lightning cables.
The update rolls out globally for iPhone XS and later models, along with recent iPads.
