Leaked animations hidden within Samsung's upcoming One UI 8 software reveal clues about the company's rumoured triple-fold phone. The animations suggest a different approach than Huawei's recently launched triple-fold device.

The animations, found by Android Authority, show how users would tap their phone for NFC payments. They reveal a key difference: Samsung's phone has its outer screen positioned in the middle when the device is fully unfolded. This contrasts sharply with Huawei's Mate XT, where one-third of the inner screen becomes the outer display when folded.
Samsung's design points to both sides folding inwards, similar to its older Flex G concept phone. This likely means the device switches only between a regular phone-sized outer screen and a full tablet-sized inner screen. Huawei's Z-fold design offers three distinct sizes: phone, double-folded phone, and tablet.
This inward fold could offer better protection for the delicate inner screens and might use a simpler hinge. However, the folded Samsung phone is expected to be thicker than Huawei's Z-shaped model, potentially making it less pocket-friendly.
Earlier leaks from Korea suggested the name "Galaxy G Fold" for Samsung's triple-fold phone, with screen sizes of 9.96 inches inside and 6.54 inches outside.
While Samsung's big event next week will focus on the new Galaxy Z Fold and Z Flip, the triple-fold phone might get a teaser. Sources indicate a full launch is more likely towards the end of Q3 or early Q4.
