Nintendo’s new Switch 2 faces player complaints about blurry game visuals since its June 5 launch. Tech channel Hardware Unboxed tested the console’s LCD screen, revealing it takes 33.3 milliseconds to refresh images – twice as slow as the original Switch. That makes it one of the slowest screens they’ve measured.

This lag causes noticeable blur during fast-moving gameplay. At 60 frames per second, each frame needs just 16.67ms to display properly. But with the screen’s 33.3ms response time, motion appears smeared.
Why the slowdown? Hardware Unboxed suspects battery-saving choices. The Switch 2 packs a bigger, brighter screen yet carries only a 19Wh battery – half the capacity of Valve’s Steam Deck. Nintendo likely reduced screen performance to squeeze more playtime.
The discovery adds to earlier hardware concerns, including Nintendo’s unusual warning not to remove the screen’s protective film. Despite these issues, strong exclusive games keep interest high. Players now watch to see if Nintendo addresses the display quality.
