Apple plans a complete redesign for the iPhone’s 20th anniversary in 2027. Codenamed "Glasswing," the model will feature an all-glass body – including both frame and display – marking the biggest physical overhaul since 2017’s iPhone X.

Sources confirm the anniversary device will run iOS 28 with enhanced AI capabilities and introduce a "Liquid Glass" interface featuring transparent elements and matte textures. The front-facing camera and Face ID sensors will sit beneath the display, eliminating the notch for full-screen visuals.

The radical redesign increases manufacturing complexity and could result in Apple’s highest-priced iPhone yet. While specifications remain fluid, insider reports indicate development is accelerating. The final name may break from Apple’s traditional numbering system.

This mirrors Apple’s 2017 strategy when the iPhone X debuted facial recognition – a feature now standard across smartphones. The 2027 model aims to similarly redefine smartphone design.

No prototypes have surfaced, but industry observers note the 20th anniversary model represents a pivotal moment for Apple. Pre-orders are expected to open in fall 2027.
