A recent post on Threads praising wired headphones sparked a wave of agreement online. The user wished Apple would bring back the headphone jack to iPhones, prompting many others to share why they still prefer cords.
Users listed key advantages of wired models. "At least it won't suddenly die, won't have pairing fails, and won't betray me by connecting to the person next to me," wrote one person. Another switched back after wireless earbuds failed: "Once my AirPods just dies, I gave up. Wired is way better."
Many argued wired headphones offer clearer sound. "The sound quality of wired is unbeatable by wireless," commented a user. "You can use Sony wired ones for much clearer audio," added another.
Practical benefits were also highlighted. "Adjusting volume or skipping tracks is instant, super handy when riding a bike," explained a fan. One user even credited wired headphones with saving their phone: "I drop my phone a lot. The cord actually catches it."
The discussion also saw Apple users express other wishes. Some mentioned missing Touch ID fingerprint unlocking. Comments like "I'm still on the SE3 just for the home button and headphone jack," and "I want fingerprint unlock" showed nostalgia for older iPhone features. While no indication from Apple exists about bringing these features back, the online conversation clearly revealed strong user attachment to wired headphones' simplicity and reliability.
