Apple announced a complete redesign of its operating systems during Monday’s Worldwide Developers Conference, promising faster performance and smarter tools for all devices. CEO Tim Cook revealed the updates will arrive in fall 2025. with a public beta version available starting July.

The new systems—iOS 26. iPadOS 26. macOS 26 (Tahoe), watchOS 26. tvOS 26. and visionOS 26—feature a bold “Liquid Glass” look. This design uses layered transparency effects across menus, icons, and folders. Users can now pick custom colors for folders, and widgets blend into the desktop like water.
Real-time translation is now built into calls and messages, supporting multiple languages. Apple also added “Quick Keys,” letting users type short phrases like “cal” to open the Calendar app or “sm” for Messages. A new Phone app on Macs allows iPhone calls to be answered directly on the computer.
AI features are woven into everyday tasks. Spotlight can run app-specific commands, and the Clipboard history keeps track of copied text. Shortcuts now uses AI to automate workflows, while third-party developers can tap into Apple’s AI models for their apps.
Other highlights include animated Genmoji, improved FaceTime contact posters, and better multitasking on Macs. The updates will work on iPhone 11 and newer, M1 Macs and up, and compatible Apple Watches.
Apple said the changes aim to make its ecosystem “smarter and more personal,” with no extra cost for users. The final versions will roll out this fall.
