Apple’s Foldable iPhone Set for 2026 Debut, Suppliers Gear Up

Apple is aiming to launch its first foldable iPhone in late 2026. according to industry reports. The device, resembling Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold with a horizontal fold, is expected to feature a 12-inch screen when unfolded and shrink to 6.1 inches when closed, with a thickness of roughly 9.2 millimeters. Initial production, handled by Foxconn, could see 8 million to 10 million units shipped in the first wave, scaling up to 20 million by 2027.

Key suppliers are already in place: Samsung will supply flexible OLED screens, while China-based Lens Technology will provide ultra-thin glass components. Hinges, costing about $110 per unit, will come from Amphenol and Shin Zu Shing. Apple is also rumored to be developing foldable iPads and MacBooks for 2027. expanding its bendable-device lineup.

The foldable iPhone project signals Apple’s push into a market dominated by rivals like Samsung and Huawei. While pricing details remain under wraps, analysts note the move could boost demand for specialized manufacturing tools, testing equipment, and high-performance screens. Apple has not commented publicly on the plans.

If successful, the device would mark Apple’s biggest hardware redesign since the iPhone X. For now, all eyes are on how the tech giant tackles durability challenges that have plagued earlier foldable models.
