Apple is testing a new eye-tracking feature for its Vision Pro headset that could let users scroll through content without lifting a finger, according to Bloomberg reporter Mark Gurman. The upgrade uses built-in infrared cameras and LED sensors to detect eye movements, aiming to improve navigation in apps like Safari, Messages, and third-party tools. Currently, Vision Pro’s “gaze control” allows basic interactions but remains clunky compared to gesture or Bluetooth mouse inputs.

The company is exploring methods like staring at screen edges to trigger automatic scrolling, sources say. A preview of the feature may arrive with visionOS 3. expected to debut at Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) in June. No specific launch date was shared.
Separately, Apple announced accessibility updates, including new “Accessibility Tags” on the App Store to highlight apps supporting VoiceOver, captions, or adjustable contrast. The tech giant also revealed a partnership with brain-computer interface firm Synchron to develop Switch Control, enabling device interaction via neural signals. While regulatory approval for brain-linked tech is pending, Apple is boosting eye- and head-tracking tools across its devices.
The Vision Pro headset currently supports scrolling via hand gestures, wireless mice, or gamepad joysticks. Employees familiar with the project say refining eye-tracking accuracy remains a priority before rollout.
