Longtime contributors Jeff Bakalar and Jeff Grubb finalized the deal this weekend, taking full control of the website in a move celebrated by fans as a win for independent games journalism.

　The sale, announced during PAX East, temporarily paused Giant Bomb’s content but promises a swift return. Details like the purchase price remain undisclosed, though the team confirmed plans to fund the site through subscriptions ($9.99/month or $99/year) and merch sales. “Giant Bomb is now owned by the people who make it,” Bakalar and Grubb said in a joint statement. “Our community’s support will keep this alive.”

　Fandom, which acquired Giant Bomb in 2022, called the sale a "strategic decision" to return the site to its roots. “Fans and creators come first,” the company stated, adding confidence that the brand’s legacy is “in good hands.”
