PlayStation 5 users can now use Apple Pay to buy games, DLC, and subscriptions directly on their consoles. The new feature, rolled out this week, lets players scan a QR code with their iPhone or iPad to complete purchases.

Here’s how it works:
At checkout on your PS5, select Apple Pay.
Scan the on-screen code using your iPhone or iPad’s camera.
Pick a payment card and confirm with Face ID or Touch ID.
While slower than saving a credit card to your PlayStation account, the update offers Apple Card users 2% Daily Cash rewards on every PS5 purchase. The system mirrors Apple Pay’s recent expansion to Chrome and other browsers.
Sony confirmed Apple Pay support will arrive on PS4 via a future software update. No pricing changes were announced — games and add-ons cost the same as before.
“It’s about flexibility,” said a Sony spokesperson. “Players want choices, especially if it means earning rewards.”
Apple’s push into gaming payments follows deals with Xbox and Nintendo earlier this year. The move could boost Apple Card adoption among gamers, though critics note the extra steps might deter casual users.
Available now on PS5 in all regions.
