Apple’s iOS 18.5 is set to launch globally next week after the company released its near-final "Release Candidate" (RC) version. The update packs subtle but meaningful tweaks, including a rainbow-themed "PrideHarmony" wallpaper celebrating LGBTQ+ Pride Month and tighter parental controls.
Parents now get notified instantly if their child bypasses Screen Time restrictions by guessing the passcode—a fix for sneaky late-night TikTok binges. iPhone 13 users, meanwhile, gain access to carrier-supported satellite connectivity, boosting emergency communication in remote areas.
Apple TV fans can now purchase shows or movies directly from their iPhones while streaming on third-party devices. “No more scrambling for the remote,” said one beta tester.
The update also patches a frustrating black-screen bug reported by Apple Vision Pro users. While iOS 18.5 isn’t a blockbuster upgrade, it’s a solid tune-up for those craving fresh looks or smarter device management.
Mark your calendars: The official rollout starts in days.
